· Deutsch people from Netherland or
Holland came to India in search of money and trade opportunities. Deutsch did
the trade of spices by using gold money “Paigoda”. In 1759, they
were defeated by the Britishers in the “War of Bedara”.
· French government established their
company in 1668 in the reign of emperor Louis 14.
· Portuguese – Vasco D Gama was the
first man to reach India through sea route. He reached Calicut in Kerala where
the then King Jamorin welcomed him with royal hospitality.
The first viceroy Portugal was “ Francisco D Almeida”. The real working
viceroy was “ Alphonso D Albukark”. Goa was made as the main trade centre of
the Portuguese Company. The established printing press and
started tobacco production.
· Denmark – Danish people were
interested in the establishment of “Christian Missionaries”. The main centre of
their missionaries was situated at Serampur in Bengal.
· French – The French company was
founded by the emperor of France “Louis 14” through his minister “Coalbirt”.
Pondicherry was their main trade centre and they established “Fort Louis” in
Karnataka. The war of Karnataka fought between British and French.
